Supply Chain Management Development Program

The Supply Chain Management Development Program (SCMDP) is designed to develop talented individuals into future supply chain leaders for Newell Rubbermaid. The program immerses recent college graduates into four unique roles over the course of two years. You will work with a broad range of brands in a variety of environments, impacting our business daily, while learning the ins and outs of supply chain at a Fortune 500 company.

Program Structure

The 2-year program includes four, 6-month rotations at two separate Newell Rubbermaid locations. Each role is distinct, but they all inherently have a large degree of cross-functionality. The goal is to expose you to various functions and teams, gaining different experiences that build upon one another throughout each rotation.

During your second year, the SCMDP hosts a hiring event to coordinate networking with prospective managers and facilitate your post-program placement. The goal of the program is to prepare you for a position that best fits your strengths, interests and career aspirations, all while satisfying business needs.

Growth & Development

The program is designed to give you the tools you need to accelerate your career growth and become a valued member of the Newell Rubbermaid community. Through broad exposure to many areas of the business, you will acquire unique skills and develop an expansive network across the company. You will receive additional career development support through the following opportunities provided to SCMDP participants:

Dedicated Mentors

In your first year, you will be paired with an SCMDP peer mentor to help you in your transition to a work environment. In your second year, you will be given a leadership mentor who is able to provide professional advice and guidance as you make your decision on post-program placement.

Training Weeks

During each of your rotations, you will connect with your fellow SCMDP participants for a week of development and training. These weeks are great opportunities to develop relationships with other SCMDP participants and Newell Rubbermaid employees. During the week you will:

  • Receive formal training in areas such as presentation skills, project management, finance, negotiation and Operations Excellence.
  • Interact with business leaders.
  • Network with alumni and current members of the SCMDP through teambuilding activities.
  • Give back to the local community through service events.

Leadership Experience

In addition to the experience you will receive within your rotations, you will have the opportunity to gain leadership experience by holding a leadership position in and outside of the program. This also gives you the chance to improve your project management skills by working cross-functionally on projects designed to address actionable Newell Rubbermaid initiatives that will drive business results.

SCMDP participants are self-motivated with proven track records of leadership, teamwork, ambition and commitment to establishing and achieving goals. SCMDP participants must be comfortable in a dynamic environment and respond to challenging rotation assignments across all facets of the Newell Rubbermaid Supply Chain. Newell Rubbermaid seeks individuals that enjoy a growth-centric atmosphere and are comfortable taking on high-impact responsibilities from day one.

Requirements

  • Recent college graduate with bachelor’s or master’s degree in engineering, supply chain or related field is preferred
  • Have a minimum GPA of 3.0 on a 4.0 scale or equivalent
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Relevant supply chain/engineering related research or work experience is highly preferred
  • Must be flexible - willingness to relocate at least twice within 24 month period
